introduction

OpenAI ‌developers of ChatGPT have made the announcement that developers around the world have been eagerly waiting for; the release of the ChatGPT API to the public. The API will allow developers to integrate the power of OpenAI’s language models into their own products and applications.

The language model can generate human-like responses to a wide range of inputs, including chat messages, emails and social media posts. This powerful tool is already being used by household names such as Shopify, Snapchat and Quizlet to run their chatbots and virtual assistants.

Shopify

Shopify’s consumer app, Shop, is used by over 100 million shoppers to find and connect with ‌products and brands.

The app’s new shopping assistant, ‌powered by the ChatGPT API, provides personalised recommendations to shoppers when they search for products. With the help of AI, Shop’s shopping assistant scans millions of products to find exactly what shoppers are looking for or suggest something new, making ‌the in-app shopping experience more streamlined and personalised than ever.

Snapchat

This week, Snapchat unveiled their new experimental My AI for Snapchat+ feature, which runs on the ChatGPT API and provides Snapchatters with a customisable chatbot that offers recommendations in just seconds.

Quizlet

Quizlet is a global learning platform that is used by over 60 million students to study and practice their chosen subjects.

For the past three years, OpenAI and Quizlet have been collaborating to enhance the learning experience of their students using the platform. The new ChatGPT API has allowed Quizlet to develop Q-Chat, a personalised AI tutor that utilises adaptive questioning and an interactive chat interface to keep students engaged with the study materials.

In conclusion the release of the ChatGPT API is great news for developers and businesses, who can create applications and products that are more intelligent, engaging and accessible than ever before.

As more and more businesses begin to adopt AI technologies, we can expect to see a wave of innovation that will transform the way we interact with computers and software.
